Hey Girl Meets World fans! (from a member of the Boy Meets World generation)
One of our current projects is to look into updating the page header area - that is, the area which currently contains the wordmark, local navigation and contribute button.
We want to make sure the page header area is as useful as it can be - both for the newbie who has never visited your wiki before and for the experienced editors. We're also keen on making the mobile and desktop experience feel a bit more connected.
We've been spending some time looking into what improvements could be made, and you can read much more about our research and findings on this Community Central forum post.
A test concept
As a result of this research, we've come up with a potential concept for how the page header could look:
The 'Search' option, after click - similar 'expanding' behavior to the global navigation search option
Though the layout is somewhat different, it retains much of the existing content - the wordmark, navigation and contribution options.
We think placing the wordmark top and center will help emphasise your wiki's identity, while the reorganised links should make it easier for a newbie to get to know your wiki. In particular, while the main links are hidden initially, you can quickly browse a wide overview of the wiki's content by clicking 'Read'.
As an initial test concept, it is not a final design (indeed, work is still ongoing on this concept right now) and it is subject to significant changes. We could end up going in a very different direction, as other concepts are being explored.
We're hoping to test out this concept on your wiki over the holiday break (starting sometime next week) to get feedback on the concept and to obtain data on how it's used. You won't need to make any changes (although we might want to tweak the wordmark slightly), and it's very simple for us to switch on and off.
Would you be up for that? We'd love to get in front of people so they can play around with it in a variety of 'live' situations, to help us understand what works and what doesn't.

I feel like there needs to be an active admin on here that doesn't ignore the other users and should unlock pages that I don't believe should have been locked in the first place. I've posted a blog this on the Austin & Ally wiki, but there's one image "File:Image.jpg" that has had numerous images with the same name posted over and over. Could some administrators split this up?

Hello everyone. My name is Sasha and I'm a chat mod on the Girl Meets World wiki. There is something that has been irking me, and that is that some (not all) users refuse to read the chat guidelines as well as the polices we have in place on here. A lot of the people I've talked to say they were too lazy to read them. If you're too lazy to not read the rules, it's your own fault that you're in trouble. No one can play the "Oh sorry I didn't read the rules" card and get away with it. To make things easier, let me tell you that your introductory message (everyone gets this message when they first join said wiki) includes links to our guidelines and polices. The rules are also included under the community tab of the wikia. But I am providing you all with the links to the rules on this message just in case. I will also get Michelle to highlight this message so that everyone reads it. Thank you all for your time and please take the time to read this message. I am coming to you with another wave of updates on the issues and changes that have been occurring on this wiki within the last couple of weeks. Current Issues
Unreliable Sources
(Inspired by Tvfanatic101) With new episodes premiering every month, there are bound to be unreliable websites posting false summaries and casting information for upcoming episodes. Please remember to source everything you include on our pages below the heading at the bottom of the any page titled 'References'. If you are unsure if whether a website is reliable or not, please message one of the admins (Austin9393, LoveKiss, Chansep2009, or me) with the link of the website you wish to source and we will decide if it is reliable or not. Any websites that we view as 'unreliable' such as Wikipedia or IMDB, we do not want sourced on our pages in case of inaccurate or false information. Keep in mind that if you source information from these two websites, we will be giving you a reminder/warning before you are blocked from the wiki from 3-7 days. If you continue to do this, you will be blocked for a longer period of time.
The 'LGBT' Sensitive Topic
(Inspired by Austin9393) This falls under the category of respecting other people's opinions and being polite to one another while commenting on our pages (as well as on chat). (Bureaucrat) Austin9393, and I have been discussing this issue for a few days now. We have come across a significant number of comments left on the Maya and Riley page (that for some reason were not deleted months ago like they should have been when the argument started) regarding the controversial and more importantly, sensitive topic of possibly having a same-sex couple on the show.
Now, what does this have to do with the Maya and Riley page you may wonder? Well, some users believe in the possibility of Riley and Maya becoming the first (main cast) same-sex couple in the history of the show and of Disney Channel as a whole. I cannot give my own input on this without starting a religion war with at least one user (as this unfortunately has happened before), however, whether you agree or don't agree with this ideology, please respect what other people have to say about this. If you feel that your thoughts and opinions cannot be expressed as a comment because you know for sure it will start a war with other users that disagree with you, please DO NOT post anything at all and if you find comments that are disrespectful to the LGBT community, REPORT, REPORT, REPORT to an admin. Thank you. :)
Lucaya Page Editing War
(Inspired by NikkiSarah) I have been notified by our sole rollback, NikkiSarah, that there has been an editing war on the 'Lucaya' page occurring between herself and some of the users. Please do not revert back edits that our rollback has made, as well as please respect her as one of the authorities of this wiki. Just because she is not an admin, does not mean you do not have to listen to her. You will be warned and then blocked if you undermine her authority. This is relating to the problem of the 'Lucaya' page status being changed back and forth from 'Friends' to 'Possible Crushes'. Until we are given a reason to believe otherwise, their status will remain as 'Friends'. If the editing war continues on, the page will be temporarily locked.
Updates
Staff Meetings
Our staff has begun to hold meetings once a week. This is due to the fact that I felt that the wiki was lacking the full contribution of our fellow staff members. I am extremely pleased to see that we have all (mostly) started to pull our own weight as well as help one another with solving problems. Now, how does this relate to the rest of you wiki contributors? Although sadly, not all you can be a part of our weekly staff meetings, we are always open to new topics to discuss about in our meetings. Therefore, message me on my wall if you have anything you feel the staff should discuss about in one of our meetings regarding wiki-related issues.
Background and Theme Designer
As you can obviously tell, the wiki has been undergoing through some new, different and exciting improvements over the past few days. The wiki looks amazing, doesn't it? With the help of the current staff, we have been able to pull-off adapting exciting changes, as you will read more about below! :D
Chat Room Design
We are extremely thrilled to say that the chat room will have a whole new and improved look in a few days. The chat room is now called 'The Matthews' House' and as always, please respect the opinions of others while on chat. It's me again. This is another one of my announcements regarding another issue that we seem to be having. You are asked to read this thread and respond back if you have anything to say about it.
I have been told that users keep posting spoilers regarding future episodes on our pages. I would like to kindly ask you all to respect other people's decision of not wanting to be spoiled from news and information that you have gathered.
Please keep all spoilers off of our pages except for the Girl Meets World Spoiler Page where you can post all of the spoilers that you know of for those that wish to learn about future episodes. Even then you must have reliable sources to back up your information.
Please keep in mind also that if you want somebody to know about a spoiler, you must have their permission if you wish to post it on their message wall.
If a user is found posting spoilers on our pages, they will be given a warning. If they choose to ignore the warning and continue to post spoilers, they will be blocked from the wiki. The time of the block will be based on how severe the situation is.
If you find a user who persists to post spoilers on our pages, feel free to message me on my wall or any of the admins and we'll take care of it. :)
I want to bring to your attention the current issues that I have observed on this wiki thus far. There are numerous things I want to discuss with you all. As wiki contributors, it is your obligation to read this thread as it is very important in order for us to progress further as a community on this wiki.
Our Current Wiki Problems
Irrelevant and/or Unnecessary Categories
I have offically removed the Girl Meets World category. Former admins have brought up this unnecessary category as an issue in past discussions, however, no further action has been taken. Special thanks goes to Nic98ole for helping me accomplish the difficult and long task of removing the category from all pages. If I find that you are adding this category back into the pages, I will give you a warning before I block you for a time period on this wiki. I will remind you that everything on this wiki is Girl Meets World related, therefore, it would be redundant to have this category on every single one of our pages.
If any of you feel that there still exists irrelevant and/or unnecessary categories on this wiki, please reply back to this thread listing the categories you feel are not needed as well an an explanation to why you feel they are unnecessary. A Category Guidelines page has now been made. You are expected to read this page and abide by the policies. There are no excuses if you are given a warning and later blocked from the wiki for not reading our new guidelines.
Templates
This really isn't an issue, but I thought I would you let you guys know about the good news. I have added more Userboxes which you can now use on your profiles! If you have suggestions for templates that have not been made yet, you can do so here or better yet, you can message me or any of the other admins on our walls and we will make them for you! :)
"Ship Wars"
This issue is essentially important to bring up now as everybody is anxiously waiting for the August episodes to air and there have been rumors floating around the wiki of some of the "Lucaya" spoilers in these episodes. As a netural party for both ships, I would like to kindly ask all of you to behave while on any of the pairing pages, but especially on the "Lucaya" and "Rucas" pages. I have had to deal with a few users today for misbehaving and provoking "ship wars" on the Lucaya page. Please respect people's opinions and beliefs, there is no need to cause any problems with one another
As for the users that get provoked to start ship wars, I would advise you not to reply to comments that bash your favorite couple. You are only making the problem worse! There are admins and message walls on this wiki for a reason and so I ask you to message any of us admins and we will deal with the users that are only looking to cause problems for everybody.
This goes for anybody that replies back to any ship-war-provoking comment; you will be warned once not to reply back to these types of comments before you are blocked from wiki for a time period. Further consequences will be taken into action if you are caught doing it again. As it is stated as one of our policies: "When a bullying problem, argument, or any type of wiki violation occurs, if needed respond in the civil way by telling an admin. Do not retaliate in a negative way or violate other rules." There should be no reason to reply back to these comments, you should be contacting an admin immediately and one of us will handle it.
For the time that I am here as an admin, one of my main goals is to stop these ship wars once and for all and I intend to do that.
Trolls
Rule number 6 of our Policies under "Behavior policies" now states: Please do not respond back to a "troll" as this feeds their purpose to keep trolling pages and users. Report any inappropriate and/or rude comment to an admin. If you are caught responding back to a troll's comment, you will be given one warning before being blocked from the wiki for a time period.
I give thanks to the users that report trolls to me. I really do appreciate it, however, there are some people who don't do anything about trolls and I feel that this is an issue that must be brought up here. Just like with the users that provoke ship wars between pairing pages, you MUST report trolls in general to us. Often times I have found comments written by trolls with as many as five replies of the opposing side and I have never been notified by them. Please start reporting from now on for those that don't. Cyberbullying is a matter which I take very seriously as I have been a victim to it at one point in my life. I want to make sure this wiki remains welcoming, friendly and free from verbal harrassment.
In summary
The "Girl Meets World" category has been removed. Please don't add it to pages.
Refrain from adding irrelevant and/or unnecessary categories to our pages.
Suggest userboxes to any of the admins and we'll make them for you. :)
Don't think you can be the "hero" by defending your "ship" and responding back to these trolls. As contributors, we must work together to prevent cyberbullying on this wiki. Report the troll to an admin and only then will you be making a difference. :)
If you respond back to comments made by trolls you will receive a warning. If you are caught doing this again, you will be blocked.
I feel like I'm here 24/7 guys, but in reality I am not. I do try to make every effort to be on as much as possible and try to help out as much as possible with any given situation or problem you have. Even if you need someone to talk to, I'm always here to listen. :)

hi I just wanted to say that I have an idea for the wiki like there could be a box type thing that says this page contains spoilers click yes if you want to continue reading click no if you don`t want spoilers
second idea is we can have a page just for interesting plots
third plot is if we get Disney`s permission we can show episodes that premiered already for free like if you don`t have a cable company that is on the watch Disney channel service you can watch it on this wiki
Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I last highlighted a post on here, but I have just been very busy. I want to start with saying happy easter to everyone!
I've recently noticed that the other bureaucrats have become inactive. Both Wynn22 and User:AwesomeOrange89 haven't edited in a while and I could really use some help on this wiki. Therefore, I am asking you if we should remove their bureaucrat rights? I am going to look for some new admins very soon. Any ideas, thoughts, feedback?
I'll also bring up the topic of the locked episode pages. I know that most of you want them unlocked, but the problem is that false information has been added to them and we want to be an accurate wiki with reliable information. Here the admin thing returns, if we got some new admins who could help me with watching on these pages then I think we could open them again.
I am asking you guys to simply comment with "support" or "oppose" so I know who's for the bureaucrats being removed or not. Thanks!
We've noticed as of late that the forums are starting to become disorganized, and now the admins want to clean it up! As such, we will be closing and removing inactive threads. Another thing of note is that a good chunk of these threads have already been created. The most common one is pairing threads, and to counter this problem we have created the GMW Wiki's Official Pairings Discussion Thread! Here you may talk about your favorite pairings and discuss with others. As always, please be courteous and respectful! Any misconduct will result in severe consequences.
Another common thread are episode ones, so now, we present to you the newest board in the forum titled (you guessed it!) 'Episodes'. Here you are free to discuss episodes even after the live chat is over. Please remember, do not create the same thread again! Please check to make sure it has not already been created, or it will be deleted. Episode threads that have already been created have been or are in the process of being moved to this board.
Another thing to note: We've noticed how many people love to gush about Peyton Meyer/Lucas Friar in the threads. Since these threads have been constantly made, we ask you either continue the conversation in an existing thread or simply write a comment on the cast/character page. This will help keep the forums more organized!
And one more thing: remember to make threads in the proper boards. There are descriptions for a reason! Please read the specifics of the board before creating a new thread! If you aren't sure which board it belongs in, feel free to shoot one of the admins or users in the community a message!
Hello! I propose that we demote Justsomechic from Bureaucrat and Admin. We all know that she is the Founder but she hasn't acted like one. She hasn't edited in over a year and isn't doing a thing for the wiki. A Bureaucrat should be active and the only Bureaucrat who's active is User:Wynn22. And we're looking for more admins so we don't need Justsome anymore because we will have enough admins. If you're in support of this please say I support in a comment. Thanks everybody!
On the pages, there seem to be a lot of categories listed at the bottom. Some of them seem redundant and unnecessary, and they could just become a mess. So, I was wondering if we could define which ones are actually needed.
For example, the Girl Meets World category itself seems unnecessary. This is already the Girl Meets World Wiki, so why do we need a category that defines a page in being related to the actual show? Every page on the wiki has to be related to the show anyway. Also, Aires On Disney Channel is another category on several episode pages; "Aires" isn't even spelled correctly. Besides, it's sort of obvious that this would air on Disney Channel, so to me, that also seems redundant.
I could obviously go into a lot more categories such as defining the difference between "Interactions", "Relationships, and "Pairings" on pairing pages. Perhaps, we could define categories somewhat like this as what is necessary pretty nicely.
